Miguel Hidalgo is a dedicated emergency management and health/medical preparedness
professional with over 20 years of experience leading crisis response, disaster preparedness
planning, and operational readiness/strategies. His expertise spans across major organizations,
including the American Red Cross and the Broward County Emergency Management
Department, where he has played a pivotal role in strengthening emergency response systems,
coordinating multi-agency efforts, and implementing proactive community recovery solutions.
At the American Red Cross, Miguel lead a team of recovery specialists, ensuring communities
receive essential recovery support during and post disasters. As an Emergency Preparedness
Manager, he developed hospital-wide emergency plans and strengthened collaboration with local
and federal agencies. His work with Broward County and the City of Miramar involved securing
critical funding, improving disaster readiness, and establishing community emergency response
teams.
In Broward County he worked with Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, and Hospitals to
review and approve the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) submissions to
the Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA).
Miguel has a Bachelor of Arts from Manhattan University and a Master of Public Administration
(MPA) from Bernard Baruch College. He also has multiple industry certifications, including
Incident Command System (ICS) and Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP).
Miguel is an active leader in professional preparedness, response, and recovery organizations.
Passionate about community resilience and public safety, he continues to drive impactful
solutions that enhance preparedness and response strategies for organizations.
Miguel also enjoys conducting emergency preparedness, response, and recovery
presentations/consultations to numerous organizations within the private and public sectors.
Miguel is married and has two children he loves spending time with as he balances career and
family life.
